The shoe says it all

The shoes the bride wears on her wedding day can say a lot about her, especially if they have something wrote on the bottom.
Writing your wedding date with both of your names, initials, or just the Mrs. part like this picture.
Something blue, have your bridesmaids write a special note to you on the bottom of your shoes.
Even the grooms are joining in on this trend.  I went to a wedding recently when the groom did this, and it was talked about as much as the brides dress!

Bridesmaids Dress Trends

There is nothing worse than purchasing a bridesmaids dress that you can never wear again. Some the current trends in bridesmaids dress allow you to wear the dress for more than just one occasion.

Illusion necklines:
The illusion necklines can be done like this picture, or in a one-shoulder style.

Ivory/ White:
This trend by far is one that I do not understand. The bride should be the only person in white at her wedding. But ever since Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian had their bridesmaids in white dresses this trend is becoming we are starting to see a little more of.
One-Shoulder:
If a dress has one-shoulder, you can guarantee I am going to buy it. One-shoulder dresses are a very classic look, and probably a trend that will never die down.
Another trend that is continuing through this next season is the bridesmaids having different styles of dresses, and some times different colors too! If a bride allows her bridesmaids to do this, it is a guarantee that the bridesmaids like their gowns and can wear them again.

Celebrity Wedding Dresses

Once celebrities announce their engagements, designers start drawing up illustrations of dresses.  If their gown is chosen, they will have the worldwide coverage of their work. And until the big day, it is usually  hush, hush who is chosen. Until the announcement is made, designers send the celebrity their sketches of dresses.
When Kate Middleton and Prince William announced their engagement, there was so many designers' sketches surfacing on the internet.

Even though the Jolie-Pitt wedding will not probably not compare to the Royal wedding, sketches of possible Angelina Jolie's dress are already surfacing. Here is one of my favorite.. Will her dress look anything like any of the sketches???

Real Wedding

Taylor Wedding
November 2011
Henderson Village
The brides shoes were so simple and elegant.

This brides jeweled neckline and belt added a little sparkle to her simple, Grecian wedding dress.

This bride is following current trends with having a bird cage veil instead of the traditional and longer veils. I absolutely love this choice!

The groom's tie matches the color of the bridesmaids dress. I love the pop of color that it gives to his black suit. A trend for the groom's fashion is having some pop of color into wardrobe. I have seen other grooms also wearing non-traditional colors and suits instead of tuxedos.

This shot shows how the guest of the wedding dressed. When it comes to the fashion of guests at weddings today, I think it varies on the time of the wedding and the location. With the increasing popularity of outside weddings,  you of course are going to chose something that you will comfortable in with the current weather. These guests choices, in my opinion, fit the traditional style of guests attire.  Simple and classy outfits.
I love this color of pink for the bridesmaids dresses! One thing that sticks out most to me is that even though the wedding took place in a winter month, the color of the dress screams summer! This style of the dress also goes with a summer theme.

The Taylor wedding is a perfect example of for the theme of this blog, having a traditional, yet modern wedding.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2013

Bridal fashion week was held in New York two weeks ago, and the current bridal trends were very clear.  There was embellished lace, lots of romantic textures, peplum, and "transformers". Most of the models had very simple hair, and minimal makeup. Last season's portrait backs have also returned this season, which by far is my favorite bridal trend! Vera Wang's collection definitely stood out from the rest, because the entire collection was shades of red.

Vera Wang's collection definitely stood out from the rest, because the entire collection was shades of red. Typically, I do not like wedding gowns that are colors, especially such a bold statement color like red but I have to give it to Vera Wang, she knocked these designs out of the park. Here are just a few my favorites from the collection.

Welcome to the Elsie bride!

In a nutshell, this blog is all about bridal fashion. I am a currently a fashion merchandising student at Georgia Southern. And I am absolutely obsessed with everything bridal, mostly beautiful dresses. This blog is for brides who are searching for the latest fashion trends that respect her traditional values. Or just for a fellow bridal fashionistas.

The typical bride who would feel inspired from this blog is someone who is:
-fashion forward
-traditional, yet modern
-detail oriented
-determined

The blog's name is inspired by my great grandmother, to whom I called Nano. Until about a year ago, I don't think I ever really knew what her actual name was. While looking through some old family photos, we came across a picture of her and I finally asked what her actual name was. Elsie (L-SEE), what a beautiful name! This name fit perfectly for the type of blog I was going for, and since Megan wasn't unique enough for my direction, out came the Elsie bride.

Enjoy!
